People always ask us what the best time of year is to get married here. The honest answer is that there is no wrong one. The hill changes character with every season, and each one makes a different kind of beautiful. Here is a year at Gateley Hill, so you can picture your own day in whichever season feels like yours.
Spring is when the whole property wakes up. The gardens fill in, the roses open, and the entry path turns into a corridor of color. The light is soft and clean, the air still cool, and everything feels new, which is a lovely thing to stand in on the day you get married. It is our most requested season, and it books first.

Summer here is all about the evening. The afternoons are warm, but when the sun gets low, the whole hill turns gold and the field behind the chapel glows. An evening ceremony followed by golden-hour portraits in that field is one of the most beautiful things we host all year. Bring a fan for your guests and lean into the light.

If spring is the most popular, fall is the one the photographers love most. The light turns warm and amber, the mornings get crisp, and the River Valley shifts into color all around us. October here is a dream. There is a settled, golden quality to a fall wedding that is hard to describe until you are standing in it.

Winter weddings are our quiet secret. The chapel is heated and cozy, the bare trees and open sky make for striking, uncluttered photos, and there is a stillness to a winter wedding that the busy seasons simply do not have. It is also our most available season, so if you want a specific date without the wait, this is your window.

There is not a bad month on this hill. Spring and fall book first for their color and light, summer rewards you with those long golden evenings, and winter gives you a cozy chapel and the pick of the calendar. Whenever you are ready, we would love to walk you through the grounds and help you picture your day in your season.
